GEAR 2.0-ADC scoping review demonstrated the need for more approaches that address how to effectively and efficiently identify persons with cognitive impairment or dementia in the ED. In this scoping review, the authors work to identify research and practice gaps to better establish future research priorities that will advance the detection of cognitive impairment and dementia in the ED. Through the review of over 1400 publications, research gaps that should be prioritized to detect cognitive impairments and people living with dementia can be addressed in future GEAR 2.0 research funding opportunities.
